I made this finger knit chickadee wreath for my friend Jeanette of Snazzy Little Things for the Secret Santa Blog tour. I actually made her some wood slice ornaments in addition to this wreath.
Materials I used are:
- yarn
- ribbon
- felt
- chalk tag & chalk marker
- Styrofoam berries
- grapevine wreath
- chickadee ornament
- hot glue
- scissors
- wire
I started out finger knitting some ivory yarn. If you don’t know how to finger knit, it is extremely easy. I like doing this while watching tv at night. I found a video tutorial on Youtube to learn how to do this.
Once I had my knitting done I wrapped the yarn around the lower 3/4’s of the wreath, leaving the top area uncovered.
The next step is to cut out your leaves, I used felt and some wool ribbon I had on hand to make the leaves. Once those were cut I hot glued them on the top 1/4 of the wreath.
Using a chalk marker I wrote Merry Christmas on the chalk tag and hot glued the chickadee, sprays of berries, a few leaves and the tag to the bottom of the wreath. I also used some wire to keep the bird on.
I hot glued some white Styrofoam berries sporadically around the wreath and using the wire I attached the bow.
This wreath was so easy to make. I need to come up with some other projects using the finger knitted yarn!
The other gift that I gave Jeanette for the Secret Santa Tour are these chalkboard wood slice ornaments!
