New Year – New Home Design!

newyear1I purchased my home 6 years ago, if you look at the photos of my house when I first bought it you would understand why I had painted every room (some more then once) within the first month of moving in!  I was skeeved by the bathrooms to say the least :), the before photos just can’t capture the feeling of skeeviness I had when I first moved in!   I hated the kitchen cabinets, and dreaded the linoleum flooring….. But I did love the hardwood in the office, living room and dining room.  So shortly after moving in I had painted every room, added molding (wainscot, bead board, craftsman style wainscot), added door casing and crown molding to the doors and the kitchen cabinets, had hardwood installed in the kitchen and downstairs bathroom.  Bought new appliances, had my share of choosing bad paint colors!  Let’s just say I painted the guest room on a Friday night by 8am on Saturday I was back at Sherwin Williams purchasing another color and had the room repainted before noon!  My design taste has changed over the last 6 years and now I’m itching to do some redesigning!  My short list for 2013 is to remove the tape stripes on my kitchen walls and repaint, redo the counters and install a back-splash and perhaps paint the kitchen cabinets.  The living room and dining room are getting new wall colors, reupholstering a chair for the living room, adding a gallery wall, new pillows on the couch, a rug for the living room and accessories, revamping the coffee table, changing out the mirror for a new sunburst one that will be here in two days!  The master bedroom needs new accessories, the guest room turned gym still is not finished, I plan on sanding and re-staining a piece that belonged to my parents that is in that room, I want to use a grey stain that looks like driftwood, I have some real driftwood to display, one piece looks like the profile of a horses head!!  That whole room will be shades of grey and white.  So that’s my short list but I’m sure I will add to this list…..  Stay tuned for updates on these projects, I can’t wait to ring in the new year with my new interior designs!

Wishing you all a Happy and Healthy New Year!
