I love white lights on a Christmas tree for that elegant look which I find is not achievable with color lights, however I love the colored lights because it brings back that childhood Christmas feeling! I put colored lights on my tree (luckily you can’t see the color lights when I have just the white lights on) so when I have the white lights on, the tree still looks elegant but I can turn the white lights off and put the color lights on and get that Christmas feeling that I had as a kid!
I started wondering if there are companies that actually sell Christmas trees with both white lights and color lights prelit on one tree but with enough of each type of mini light so the tree would still be bright enough with just the white or just the colored lights on and sure enough I found a company that makes a prelit tree with both white and colored lights on one tree, as if that’s not great enough the lights come with a remote control that lets you select just white lights, just color lights or both white and color lights on at the same time!
My tree came prelit with white lights, however I think this year when I take the tree apart (this tree is so simple it’s only in three pieces and the branches fold down for easy storage) I am going to affix the color lights onto the tree just as the white lights are affixed, this way I won’t have to keep restringing the color lights every year! So if any of you love both color and white you can do what I’ve done and add both to your tree or buy one already prelit with color and white lights, see photos and link to company below.
If you grew up with color lights but have been using white lights as an adult try this method of adding both (be sure you have enough lights so the tree will be bright enough with just the white or just the color lights on) it’s fun having both sets on the tree (I personally don’t like having both the white and color on at the same time) I start out in the afternoon with just the white lights on but by night I switch to the color lights! I’ll take photos of my tree with just the color lights on soon (my batteries are recharging!). You can see my tree with just the white lights on Here.
