Olympic One Paint Review

If you remember, in May I went to New York to tour the Good Housekeeping Labs with a few other bloggers as part of partnering with Olympic Paint & Stain. In June I tested out Olympic Stain on my deck.  This month I’m testing out Olympic One Paint.  For a while now I have wanted to repaint my living room, I was growing tired of the ivory wainscot and taupe walls.  I really wanted to bring in tones of gray and bright white paint.  When Olympic invited me to participate in testing their products out I knew the living room was going to be my paint project.  *This is a sponsored post, I may receive product or other compensation, however all views are my own.

When one of my sisters suggested I paint my “TV” wall in the living room in a dark gray I was hesitant.  I went to Lowe’s and grabbed a bunch of gray paint chips (light and dark gray).  After narrowing the colors down to my favorite light and dark gray, I decided to use the color visualizer on the Olympic website.  This really helped me determine if I wanted to do one wall darker.  I was apprehensive at first since I tend to stick with lighter colors, however the visualizer was all I needed to see how much I would love having one wall dark.

The first wall I painted was the dark charcoal wall or the wall the TV is on.  The color I used is Knight’s Armor. I tend to paint with a very light hand, so no matter what brand I use I always do two coats of paint on the walls.  The first thing I noticed with Olympic One Paint is that it had a nice thickness to it.  Not too thick like glue and not too thin or watery.  I have used very expensive paints and to be honest this paint went on just as smoothly as those expensive paints.  Olympic One paint is paint and primer in one.

After the dark wall was done, I moved on to the other walls.  I chose the color Quill for those walls.  This paint color is amazing.  It changes color depending on the time of day.  In some lighting it appears very light gray with a hint of beige (greige), in the late day for about an hour it has a slight blue/gray color to it.

The wainscot and ceiling were done last.  There was no splatter when putting the paint up on the ceiling!  I am not a perfectionist and to be honest I am a very messy painter.  I usually have paint all over myself.  I’m not one who likes to prep either, so I don’t use drop cloths on the floors.  In the past when I have painted the ceiling with other paints I had to spend two days picking the paint splatter off the wood floors.  Luckily I didn’t have to do that this time around because the paint didn’t splatter when I was rolling it on the ceiling!

I should mention that I really can not stand the smell of paint.  The strong odors gives me a terrible headache so I always stick with low-voc paints.  Olympic One Paint is a low-voc paint and had hardly any scent to it at all which made me very happy!

Here are the benefits of using Olympic One Paint:

  • Paint and primer in one
  • Extreme hiding power
  • Scrubbable & durable
  • True, rich color
  • Provides mildew resistant coating
  • Easy application & cleanup
  • Smooth finish
  • 100% acrylic formula
  • Low VOC
  • Lifetime warranty
  • Backed by the Good Housekeeping Seal

I can honestly say this paint has quickly become one of my top paints to continue to use.  The price is fantastic, it’s very easy to use, clean up was a breeze and the quality is superb.  It’s easy to see why the Olympic One paint has been granted the Good Housekeeping Seal.

Check back over the next two months I will be giving my follow up opinion on Olympic One Paint and Maximum Stain.

Don’t forget to follow along with my fellow bloggers who are testing out Olympic Products as well!
